: I am a married father of two who has been using crack since high school. I am now almost 30!
: It is worse now then it has ever been. The strange part is that I have a daily habit but my wife and kids dont know. i have become an expert on sneaking, lying, accounting for missing money, everything!
: Ive been at the same job for 4 years now, the bills all get paid( my wife also works), the kids are happy but i am not. I dont like feeling that way around my family, I dont like the neighborhood that I have to go to get it. I want to stop but everytime i get even 10 extra dollars, its spent on crack. I also have a large pot habit which my wife knows about and tolerates and the corner where i get the crack is also the corner where i get my pot. So even when I go to get pot 9 times out of 10 I wind up getting crack instead! I dont want to let my family know, so rehab is out of the quiestion. What can I do on my own to quit?
I understand exactly what your're going through. I started shooting up heroin at the tender age of 14. Needless to say I've been to hell, and back!
Got clean at a twelve step program (look in the yellow pages)was clean for 6 years, straightened up my life,I stopped attending the daily meetings available to me, and soon forgot that I had a huge problem. All my life i've always felt different.I was a bitter, selfish person. Found out that I'm sick, I suffer from a desease called addiction, it wont be cured, but it can be arrested. You learn to live life on life's terms, one day at a time.
How do you do this? look in the yellow pages for Narcotics Anonymous.
You will find meetings all over the world, they even have a hotline. You will find meetings morning noon and nights.
I can tell you from experience..If you dont do something now, I guarantee you It's only going to get worse.
Only at these meetings are you going to find people that understand EXACTLY where you're coming from, because they have been there.
They have most likely done worse things than you have.
