: I meant no disrespect. Please forgive me if you felt that. I can only say from great experience that 90 mg/day is alot of oxycontin to be taking. That's the equivilant of 18 percocet/day in a time realease form. I know also from experience that my personality changed from a happy-go-lucky guy to an irritable, grouchy jerk (to quote my daughter). It's true. I went to treatment and they (the professional counselors and doctors) told me to fact about using narcotics for chronic pain. Can you picture yourself taking narcotics for the next 50 years or so? Maybe you are fortunate and your personality hasn't and won't change. I wasn't so lucky. I still have chronic pain (neck disk disease) but I don';t any longer take narcotics and I have a great life today! I sincerely do wish you the very best with your problem. We all deserve happiness, don't we?! Again, please forgive me for my possible insensitivity.
: I know you meant no disrespect, and I do understand what you are saying. No, I cannot imagine myself on opioids for the next 50 years. What me and my docs plan is to help with the pain that way, for now, and then start a regimen of excercise and strengthening for the long run, and taper off the meds. It would be impossible for me to even attempt to do this without having the pain lessened, so it is only temporary in both of our minds. I do appreciate your input, and I know about the mood and behavior changing aspect, but in my case, it only helps my mood when I am not fighting through the pain 24 hours a day. I can do more and have more energy to get my back in better shape, and I think that's all good stuff.
Thanks for sharing, and I know you meant no disrespect. Thanks a lot....Kimberly
