In Reply to: Could I have addisons disease, do these syptoms sound familar, Any info will help, I'm at the end of my rope!! posted by michelle on June 30, 2000 at 12:22:41:
: I'm a 21 year old female who has been sick for about 3 yrs. In the last year I have left my job & rely on disability insurance to keep me a float. Of the many doctors & specialists I've seen, they all agree there is something wrong,(but what, they don't know)yet they continue to put me on verius medications (15+). I suffer from : - severe spasms in my legs (starting with twitching of toes to complete muscle spasms from my feet to my hips). - constant low blood pressure, dizziness, lightheadness, weakness & nausea. - shortness of breath, racing heart, anxiety & depression. - Type 1 Diabetes. - massive weight loss in a very short period of time. - severe fatigue, lack of sleep, tremours & hot flashes. To name just A few. I am slowly giving up on the fact that there is no name to this horrible condition which day by day makes my life worse. I used to be active, fun loving, enjoyed my job & my friends; All of which are now slipping away. If there is anyone out the with simular syptoms or conditions & know of any information or test that could be done to see if this is Addisons disease, or if it sounds like any other virus or disease; I would really appreciate it. Also if there is someone else struggling with any of these problems I would love to here from you, as I feel like I'm the only one leading this painfull (almost hellish) life. Thank you for your time.
I am a 38 year-old female. I was also very miserable for three years, with two small children to boot! I would pray to God every night to let me die if I couldn't get better! That is just the thing, gone undiagnosed with addison's disease and you will just fade away. Please contact an endocrinologist! The tests are simple and painless. If you get the run-around with one doctor dump him/her for another. Remember, they are only human like you and I and capable of mistakes! My life is back to whatever normal is and I am taking care of my family and can sympathize with your fear and frustration. I wouldn't wish the period of sickness leading up to diagnosis on anyone. It happens the happens for a reason. I appreciate my health more than I could ever express in words! I'm actually grateful that my health problems stemmed from addison's! with the symptoms I had, it could have been sooooo much worse! Maintenance for this disease is so simple. Best of luck to you and I pray you have found a solution already!
