: : Hi everyone. I am new to this board and was reading over some of the posts you all read trying to decifer my symptoms from yours. Please let me know what you all think
: : I am 24 years old and I have been suffering with wide-spread joint pain, almost constant Gastrointestinal upset, weight loss, low hormone levels, low blood sugar, low blood pressure, candida overgrowth, leaky gut syndrome and fatigue
: : I don't seem to be in THAT bad a shape despite the long list of symptoms because I pretty much get through my day pretty well. Wish my energy was better but That doesn't stop me from playing soccer and going out. I am never tired to the point of exuastion. I suffered several hypoglycemia attaks last year mistaking them for anxiety attacks so I was put on 10mg of Paxil. I am off that now and have taken dietary and supplementary steps at correcting the hypoglycmia which I have. I can go hours without eating and never sink. I still have relatively low blood sugar though. I am surrently fighting a candida infection which could be contributing to the adrenal problems. There is definitely a problem with the adrenals although I believe I have caught it in the early stages. I am currently on a program to rid myself of candida, heal the intestinal tract, detox the body, rebuild the adrenals, and rebuild the immune system. This is through a naturopath and hiw program is very comprehensive. I figure, I am going to milk theses natural therapies and get as much out of it as I can before resorting to medication if I really nead it. I am sticking with it because I am improving. I am a little scared though with all this weight loss. the doctor believes this is because of the candida/leaky gut. He says that the candida steals my nutrition and the leaky gut allows what is left to not be digested well leading to malabsorption. Just thought I would throw that in there. I think that I exausted my adrenals doing recreational drugs for 2 years. I smoked pot and used cocaine. I am not embarrased to say it. I did it, and it's over but it's worth mentioning because it may have pushed my adrenals too far. The only thing I am doing for my adrenals right now is taking 50mg DHEA daily and trying to practice relaxation 2x a day. ANy thoughts?
: : Thank,

: The endocrine system was designed to work in harmony. If you have been diagnosed with hypoglycemia, with a 6 hour glucose tolerance test, your pancreas is malfunctioning. If your pancreas is not functioning properly, neither is any other gland in your endocrine system. The next step in the normal down hill spiral is your thyroid will malfunction. May I suggest you read Dr.Broda O. Barnes excellent book, "Hypothyroidism, the Unsuspected Illness". Do the underarm temperature thyroid test Dr. Barnes discusses in the book. IT IS THE ONLY ACCURATE THYROID TEST THERE IS, BAR NONE!!!!!!!!!!! At 58 years old, Rich, I tell you these things from experience. I too, was hypoglycemic when I was in my 20's, then my thyroid went kapute, and now I have Addison's disease. So I know endocrine problems are PROGRESSIVE. Your young, DO EVERYTHING in your power to regain & maintain your health. You have NO IDEA what it's like when you lose it!!!!!!!!!!!
I was diagnosed with addison's 5 yrs ago. I too was hypoglycemic in my 20s and diagnosed with hyperthyroidism without gaining weight later on. felt better on the synthroid for about a month and started to go down hill again. be careful with this hypothyroidism since you have trouble gaining weight. something else could be wrong and throwing your levels off.
