I have had numerous surgeries. Whatever surgeries you have, always tell the doctor you have addisons. You do need more hydrocortisone when you have surgery. Normally they give you an injection of around 100mg. right before surgery. Good Luck.
: : Has anyone out there been put under anesthetic and what are the dangers? I may require some surgery and am scared to death of not coming out of the anesthetic. Are there any special precautions an addisonian must take to be put under general anesthesia?
: Don't know the details, particularly since I'm new at this, but I'm under the impression that if you are going to have surgery you will either have to temporarily raise your cortisol dosage, or have extra administered at the hospital.
