Sherry,
Caregiving is one of the hardest jobs in the world and I'm not surprised your father, who is aging himself, is having difficulty with it and seeking other alternatives to alleviate the frustrations that go with caregiving.
There is a wonderful on-line caregiving group that would be a great help for you. E-mail me (as I don't have their web address handy) and I'll let you know how to get into the caregiving group.
There are other alternatives you should explore. Try to get Power of Attorney - that would override your father and allow you to decide the best care for your mother. There are also assisted living homes. I know of a great one in Michigan but since I don't know where you live, I can't say if that would be of any help.
I am a caregiver myself, so I understand your frustrations and dilema.
Let me know if I can help in any way. Good luck to you!
