Paul, I hope by now that u have gotten help for ur mother. It's been two months since u posted ur question, but I just read it. My mother and mother-in-law both had similar symptoms. They were diagnosed with beginning Alzheimers. Although ur mom is only 57, this disease is no respecter of age. I would definitely take her to a neurologist or a psychiatrist. It could be any number of things, but only a doctor can test her.
