I have known this is common for people of all ages, that just after a big move they feel extremely depressed. But believe me, there is a lot that can be done.
More than anything they need to know you are there for them and I would suggest talking to their doctor or a psycotherapist about getting them on some anti-depressants. It usually only takes 3-6 months of therapy to start feeling good again. And it also sounds like your mother may have O.C.D.
Please take their moods seriously because it will affect their health in the long run.
