: : My 4 year old son often wakes in the middle of the night for no apparent reason. He is often unconsolable and never remembers the episodes the next morning. Could this be a result of an allergy? He is always itchy and has dark circles under his eyes at times. Our pediatrician says he just has seasonal allergies. Thanks in advance for any advice!!!

: Hi Maureen:
: When my daughter was 1 year old I took her to our naturopathic doctor. To see if there was anything that could be done about her waking up 3 to 4 times a night, every night. She said she had a sensitivity to corn. When we cut everything out of her diet that contained corn (and let me tell you it is hidden everywhere!!), she started sleeping through the night. The only time she has a bad night is when she has had something she shouldn't have had. So, I guess that that is my way of saying YES the night terrors could be allergy related. I hope this has been of some help. Good Luck.

Cheryl-I read your note to Maureen. I have the same problem but with myself since I can remember back and now I am 27. My parents never found out for me and I did not think it could be fixed, thanks for the info. I am going to see a doctor about it after all. I knew it wasn't normal.
Thanks again.
