My husband has experienced severe hives on and off for about 5 years. At it's worse, I've rushed him to the emergency room due to breathing difficulty- his airway was swelling. He has been to an allergist and has not been able to identify the allergen. We believe that it's always at bay but when his immune system is otherwise compromised it acts up. He experiences some relief on Benedryl but can not take it during the day because it makes him too sleepy (he's primary caregiver to our children during the day). He's been on Prednisone for a lengthy time but wants to avoid going through that again. Currently he's agreed to go back to the allergist but I'm interested in information about boosting his immune system. Does anyone have similar stories? He's not an aggressive person by nature, unfortunately it means he's not very aggressive when it comes to his health. Please email me if you have any suggestions.
