In Reply to: Allergy shots. Do they work?. posted by Susan on April 06, 2000 at 15:00:47:

: I went to the allergist today. He said I have severe allergies, imagine that. I have known that for years. He says I need to start allergy shots. Do they work? Has anyone out there had success? Hw told me I would need them for at least four years. That seems like a long time. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I have taken allergy shots for 5 years. I was recently retested, and I had, in fact, gotten much less allergic to many things. But, I was still a 2 on most things. Before the shots, I was a 2++ and 3 on many things. I have now discontinued the shots to see if I feel better without them. My biggest allergy is to horses, which I train, and cannot get immunizations for, so we shall see.
