: I recently started working in a library, and I've developed an acute case of what my doctor calls "contact allergy." Itches intensely, with tiny red bumps all over the insides of the arms, the breasts, and the thighs. At first I thought it was a new deodorant, but when I stopped using that, nothing changed. When I shelve books, I carry them in the crook of my arm, holding them against my chest. I'm pretty sure the book covers are made of polyster or some kind of polyurathane (I couldn't find the box at work). I'm taking prednisone, benadryl, and applying TAC cream, but it's pretty persistent. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I thought for sure it was dust mites or paper mites, but the doctor doesn't think so.
This is VERY possibly just what you think it is. Whenever I pick up a book that has a glossy cover, like most paperback books have, I begin itching. Look at www.naet.com to learn about an allergy elimination technique that some people claim helps them.
