: I was recently diagnosed with allergies to all formaldehyde AND formaldehyde releasing agents (it comes in MANY different forms...it doesn't say "formaldehye" on the labels). This was detected through "patch" testing by a dermatologist. Although I am itchy right now, by being diagnosed and determining what products I couldn't use (which is most lotions & shampoo/conditioner's), I have relief most of the time. I too couldn't sleep for a good part of a year before they finally did the patch testing...Now I sleep very well!
: I also have the same symptoms - itchy arms, no rash. My mother also has had the same problem.
: Also, I have noticed a "tingly", somewhat burning sensation on my arm while driving and the sun shines through the window on my arm. I will research the formaldehyde allergies.
: : I go through spells of having terribly itchy arms - mostly forearms, sometimes shoulders. Feels more like little prickles or bits, but there is not a mark on my skin to show for it. Mostly happens at night, and the itching sensation gets so bad that it wakes me up. Usually I try putting a cold washcloth on the itching area. If I scratch once, then I have to scratch twice, etc etc. Sometimes, by the time I wake up in the morning, I have scratched so much that I have small scabs on my forearms.
: : I have no idea what is causing this. I have many allergies (food, medications, airborne, etc), but can't seem to relate this to anything. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas as to what might be causing it?
