: I was just diagnosed with an allergy to salicylates and tartrazien (yellow #5). I have been put on a restricted diet and am looking for other people who are also allergic to salicylates. I am finding it very hard to keep on this diet since my family is allowed to eat everything I can't. I would also like to know if anyone has any great recipes for cakes and cookies that do not have milk, butter or anything dairy in it, eggs are okay.
You may find some help at the following websites "webnz" and "guaidoc.com". the first has food listings and the second has other products you may use daily under the heading of salfree products. I visited both sites last November. Webnz remains the same but there have been some changes to the second site. It also used to list individual ingredients that were sal-free and sal-ful. You may contact me directly if you have any questions. By the way if you are allergic to one type of yellow dye you are probably allergic to all yellow dyes. I have been allergic to yellow dye for years and just recently to sals. Another name for yellow dye is tartrazine. become a label reader!!
