: I have recently been diagnosed with Cold Urtecaria, whenever I get cold or experience a temperature change from warmer to cooler, my skin becomes itchy and I get hives. This is especially noticable when I go swimming in cold water. I dont know anything about this condition, so any information that someone might have or anyone with similar experiences would be appreciated!!~Allison
Cold urticaria seem a primary disorder, perhaps asociated with several infectious diseases and other pathologies, included hereditary syndromes.
The primary syndrome should autolimited in the time, the diagnosis included screening of the associated pathologies and the ice-test.
The major risc is a systemic reaction with hypotension, during aquatic activities (masive exposition to cold).
Treatment with antihistamines and prophylactic exposition to cold, specialy with ice-cream and the aquatic activities, help to good control in the major number of cases.
