For 19 years my Dad has suffered from facial and lip swelling. Before an 'attack' he feels a 'hot spot'on his body/feet or hands. The area feels increasingly warm,it tingles, is itchy and pulsates. At this stage he knows the intensity of each attack and how long it will last. He is more prone to an attack in windy weather.(Even during a flight when the plane crossed over Hurricanne Charlie his face began to swell!)Doctors have queried Candida but have failed to do anything more about it.He feels better if he has a lie down. He knows when each attack is ending which can be as long as 24-48 hours . He eats a well balaced diet but suffers from belching during an attach and he is very hungry towards the end of an attack. He has been treated with Piriton and other medicines without success and now carries an injection of Adrenaline in case his tongue should swell. This he has self-administrated not only when his tongue has swelled but on the occaision when he has had severe facial swelling. The Adrenaline alleviates some of the swelling but not all.
