: I have recently been diagnosed with Cold Urtecaria, whenever I get cold or experience a temperature change from warmer to cooler, my skin becomes itchy and I get hives. This is especially noticable when I go swimming in cold water. I dont know anything about this condition, so any information that someone might have or anyone with similar experiences would be appreciated!!~Allison

I have had the same symptoms, (even down to sitting on cool chairs, drinking a smoothie, having the a/c on in my car). My dermatologist has told me the same thing over the phone, (Cold Urtecaria) and I will be in the office on Friday to see her.

I don't exactly know anything about it either, but hopefully after meeting with my doctor I can have some extra knowledge for you.

I DO know that she, my doctor, has it also. And she takes Allegra every day. I do not exactly want to be ingesting antibiotics every day for the rest of my life, so I am determined to find a way to beat this (without moving to Equador). Possibly with homeopathic supplements.

How old are you? My doctor told me that because I started reacting to it so late in life (six years ago) it is probably just a cycle of seven or ten years. Just an idea.

I'll keep you up to date after my office visit. Likewise, if you come across anything interesting, please share.

Stay warm!
Kate
