I suffer from something very similar which I'm trying to get my doctor to something about (not much luck at the moment).

I get numbness and swelling in my hands or fingers and sometimes swollen areas on my arms. My lip swells and this usually lasts for apprx. 24 hours. I did read in a newsgroup that someone had the same thing and it was linked to soy products, it may be worth checking that out.
