: : Yes,hyperactivity along with agressiveness can be a symptom of ingesting food dyes. There is a very definite change in my son's behaviour after having certain foods or drinks containing dyes.
: By process of elimination I have determined that
: cheese is a very strong culprit and candies like those chewy gummy bears, fruit roll-ups and the likes. We have observed this since he was 2 yrs.old and now he's 8 yrs.old and is still affected by the dyes.
: Thanks to Barbara's reply now I know why my son has a eczema in the bend of his arm and on his knee. You should be aware that yellow and red dyes seem to be the worst ones. Check out the web site of www.powerup.com.au/~kkaos/list.html(alpha index-additives) for a list of dyes and preservatives and where they are found.
: Andrea, in her reply mentioned that the consumers want dye in their food but the real reason for this is not because we want it but because the color can make a product more attractive and that industry is a multi-million dollar business. It makes me angry also that we are still submitted to eating something that is affecting the population in very negative ways. And they have diagnosed it ADHD(Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder) and are giving drugs to our kids !!

>> my 3 year old gets insane when he ingest any red dye #40. today he got a hold of a lolipop, and within 10 minutes had torn up his crib, scratched himself in the neck, knocked over the laundry and banged his head on the floor and wall. i put him in the crib for safety. this dye is a menace and is in so many things, even supposedly natural things like yogurt. it is difficult to be vigalant, but so very important.
