i also have this problem..seems to be caused by allergies possibly exacerbated by a deviated septum caused through a rugby injury.My first symptoms were swollen neck glands that emerged 18 years ago and have never left,though they're size goes up and down..i'm now 35.In my mid 20's i noticed my hearing got distorted when there was loud noise such as a crowd roaring at a football match .An ENT specialist sorted out my nose but wasn't bothered with my congested eustacian tube,which he spotted during a scan.Anyway i've decided to sort things out once and for all and am taking sudafed,cough syrup(apparently good a clearing mucus in ones ear tubes),beconase simultaneously to blity this thing.I also give myself saline irrigation and am forever pinching my nose,closing my mouth and blowing to open up the eustacian tubes.My therapy seems to be working slowly as my swollen glands on my neck and behind ears are slowly but surely diminishing in size.Another thing to try,that might help are those allergy face masks..look a bit silly but fine for private use!
