: I am about to go for allergy testing for my chronic sinus problems. I was under the impression that nowadays there was testing with a blood test that would show the allergy results. In the town where I live there are only 4 allergy specialists, all of which still do the back testing in the little squares with scratches, injections, etc. All of these doctors say they do not get clear results with the blood tests. Any comments on this?
I went for allergy testing that was done with little squares on both arms, then a tiny prick in each square. It sounds worse then it really is. This was for a chronic eustachian tube problem that Iím having. Well, it turned out that I reacted to almost everything I was tested for, and I didnít think that I was allergic to anything. The dr feels that my allergies are slight, but there is a build up from exposures to a combination of things. The solution was to replace whatever was in my house that Iím allergic to. Now I have a water bed and synthetic stuffings in my pillow and sofa. I didnít replace the carpets which can hold dust and mites, but I try to keep the whole house drier so the mites wonít live. These things helped a lot. I donít remember what else was on the list, but I can dig it out and type it for you if you like. Or your doctor might have a list of things that you can try. Personally, I would do the test that the drís think would provide better results. The worse thing about mine was that I felt very itchy afterwards. That went away after a few hours. Good Luck!
