I have been suffering from an allergy for almost one and one-half years now. It started in August 1999 and before one particular dermatologist finally named it (urtecaria)I had already seen four others who couldn't figure anything out (I also had an unnecessary bioposy performed on my right arm).
I am on doctor #6 and she proscribes zrytec. This stuff is supposed to be taken once a day. My dosage has changed as follows: from one-a-day to two-a-day to finally (short-term) three-a-day. After a time I was hopeful that it would work but I am still suffering as of right now. I am currently back to taking zrytec two-a-day and I am so tired of the whole thing. Taking medication everyday is not enlightening especially since it hasn't stopped the suffering (only dimmed it). I also have to pay more out-of-pocket as my insurance company only pays for one-a-day treatment. Has anyone heard of any successful treatment of urtecaria. My patience is quite thin and my daughter also has it (but not as badly as I do, lucky woman).
Please let me know if there is real life after urtecaria.
