I had foot surgery which required steel "pins" to remain in my big toe for a number of months. And yes, I recall that my foot itched and generally felt "hot". ( I have quite a severe nickel allergy, and can't eat canned food because of it.) I found that taking an antihistamine helped subdue the symptoms. Good luck!
