I have had chronic sinusitis since the 9th grade, and am now 26 years old. I have not really ever had relief from the severe pressure. I took a z-pack steroid treatment once and it relieved the pressure for about 6 months. I have been told there are dangers in taking the steroids regularly. I have had a CT scan done and there were no polyps present, just extreme swelling.

I have advised my doctor of when the problem started and that I had oral surgery to pull my canines down out of my sinus cavity in the 9th grade. I believe there to be a relation between the two events but doctors don't seem to say anything about the oral surgery. My theory is that the swelling is due to scar tissue which is then aggravated by my allergies. Is there anyone out there who thinks this is a logical theory? If so, is there any method of treatment to relieve the pressure? I'm tired of always feeling like my face has been hit by a truck!
