My Dad was recently diagnosed with alzheimers, although we have seen signs of it for years. It is a devastating disease as you all must know, he is my best friend and I know he will one day be here in body only. What I am most worried about right now, is that for several months he has not felt good at all. He always says he feels like he's coming down with something, feels sick at the stomach and has absolutely no energy. He gets dizzy a lot also. He was one to get up early and work from dawn to dusk, now he is lucky to make it out to the mailbox and back. He is 78 years old and was in good health up until about a year ago. He has high blood pressure and is on medication for that. But beyond that, just gingko and vitamins.
My question is, is this a symptom of alzheimers that is to be expected? And if so, is there anything that can help him? He has had blood work done by the Dr and nothing is abnormal. Where can we go from there for help. the Dr doesn't seem to have any ideas. But we never posed the question to him if it could be a symptom of alzheimers since Dad is always there and hasn't been told he has alzheimers.
Also, how long could he be expected to live with this disease? I'd rather see him go before it gets much worse, than to watch him suffer like this, but I have a feeling that's not how it will be...??
Please help, this is tearing us up as we lost my sister and two other close family members just a couple of years ago and now we're losing Dad too. Thank you so much, my prayers are with all of you who are facing the same demons.
