Faye, since you have already received the serious answers you were seeking, maybe you will enjoy my self-described "stages".
1. Denial
2. Anger
3. Resentment
4. Experimentation
5. Acceptance
6. Exhaustion
7. Relief
You know, of course, that this is my 'tongue in cheek' assessment of THE SEVEN STAGES OF ALZHEIMERS: for the CAREGIVER.
We are in stage 4 at my house: Aricept, gingko, vitamin O (ordered), Vitamin E, leave notes everywhere, remove all newspapers except TODAYS (he checks it for the day all day long, and saves me repeating 'Monday' a jillion times instead of just five or ten times)
Seriously, I do believe an intact sense of humor is our second best defense, the first being an abiding faith in God and His plan for every one of His children.
My husband is number 8 in his family to suffer from this terrible affliction, but you never get used to the terrible toll it takes before it runs it's course. Surely, someone will find the cure soon. I pray God it will happen before our children are at risk.
If you have a loved one with it, my prayers are with you.
