Hi Linda,
I work with alzheimers and yes they do lose their ability to swallow. The food should be almost a porridge consistency plus thicken fluid.
This could be done using a blender and also purchasing a thickening powder that is added to liquids to allow the patience to swallow it.
I also agree your Doctor should be made aware of this. Hope this helps.
