Yes, my mother lost her ability to remember to swallow...she would chew forever & on. Finally she lost her ability to swallow at all. This can go on for years or she may suddenly die.
My mom passed away suddenly, having grown weaker and weaker. Her bblood pressure slowed until it stopped, a very peaceful way to go.
