Please get a second opinion from an endocrine specialist and/or see the Thyroid Board.
Most doctors say the thyroid is OK when often, in fact they are not adequately trained to make that distinction. They just go by the insurance protocols and insurance people are not endocrinologists.
My own mother had senile dementia from low-thyroid, and i had lost my own recall from it, and am recovering now. Also he needs his B-12 level checked...can cause similar symptoms.

: Thanks, Carol, for your suggestion. We have had another complete evaluation on my husband, including thyroid, and it seems to be O.K. I do not know what test was used, but I especially asked the Dr. about thyroid, and he said it surely could cause dementia, but in this case that was not the cause. I pray for a miracle for him, that he will not have to endure the years of slowly slipping away like his other family members did.

: I appreciate any input anyone has as to how to best handle this sad situation.

: Thanks again,
