: In late stages of alzheimers patients forget how to swallow or in my granny's case try to breath instead of swallowing. They will get confused as to how, what when or how much to eat. I have tried sports bottles, sippy cups and now have to use a baby bottle, and feeder for my grandmother. Ensure or high protein drinks, baby food or pureed foods are helpful in getting proper nutrition. My granny was experiencing rapid weight lose and digestive problem for the past 3 months. Hospice has been a great benefit to my family with supplies and emotional support.
