: Perhaps the violence occurs mostly in the latter stages. My mother was fine as long as she was in early stages. She was just confused but handled it. Later on when she COULDN'T understand, and had bad feelings she was like a 2 year old that had her toy taken. She just hit. She also fought to do what she wanted.
: I sincerely hope you find some kind of help- and that you don't get violent. But the supervisor of a rest home told me it is common that they get violent.

: Maybe they don't know their own strength or mean to do it. I just don't know.

Sorry I didn't comment right away on the violence question. My mother fell and broke her hip and I have been so wrapped up in dealing with this situation that I have not read anyt of the messages lately. Thank Heaven she's better and in the hospital for Phys. Therapy and to get her meds straightened out. Right now she's doing ok and is due to go back to the nursing home this week. I have been told by several people since my Mom has been sick that violence is a part of the later stages which apparently in now. She doesn't know what she's doing and doesn't remember it when she does. It's really sad because I know she would never do that if she knew.
