My grandmother was just diagnosed with Lewy Body Disease. I am also trying to learn more. I have only been able to find sketchy information on the internet. Have you been able to find any additional information since you posted this message? What are your husband's symptoms? My grandmother's disease is more closely aligned to Parkinson's than Alzheimer's. I am still trying to find out if there is a difference between Diffuse Lewy Body Disease and Lewy Body Disease. Her initial symptom was a change in her gait - she started with a shuffle type step. She has a terrible time stepping up on curbs, etc. She frequently falls for no apparent reason - her feet get tangled up. Cognitively, she is pretty much the same person. I have noticed some difficulty with multi-tasks and thinking through complex situations. Most of her problem is currently on her left side - left leg & arm. She is starting to have trouble writing with her right hand. Her doctor at Duke University Hospital feels confident in his diagnosis. What have you experienced?
: Anybody out there familiar with Diffuse Lewy Body Disease? I think this is what my husband has and not Alzheimer's. Actually, he has a textbook picture of this disease but the only certain diagnosis is made on autopsy. As a wife of 44 years and an R.N. I have been caring for him at home for the last 3 years. He also has had bilateral below the knee amputations because of diabetes. Even tho' I have some household help and help from grown children, my life is difficult!!! A sense of humor and faith in God enables me to get through these difficult days.
