My mother had a mini-stroke, and she lost her driver's license, which sparked the rest.
She deteriated over about 7 years until she died.
She first seemed to lose her ability to understand letters on the page.

Her only medication was for diabetes, which was stopped as soon as her diet was controlled.
But did you know that hypothyroidism can end in dementia just like Alzheimers?
I am sure my mom hypo, but no one would test her.
I am hypo myself, and before getting the med was losing my memory and mind.

I am much better now!

I don't think one can compare the timeframes in different people.
