I just read this article about Mrs. Sheaffer's mother who died in 1998. This article related so much to how things are with my mother. Most people I talk to don't seen to connect aggression and violent behavior with most Alzheimers patients. I was beginning to wonder if my mother was the only one who acts the way she does. I have finally found a facility that is doing a great job with my mother. Most of the places she has been has sent her to pscyh unit every time she exhibits aggression (hitting, fighting, cursing, etc.)--so much so that in the months from Mar. or '99 til Oct.'00, she has completely used up her pscyh days with Medicare and has no medical days until she builds them up by being hospital free for at least 60 days. It is so stressful trying to figure out the ins & outs of Medicare, Medicaid, and any supplemental insurances. You think you have everything covered only to be told that you don't. This article helped me tremendously just in the fact that I know SOMEONE else has gone through this heartbreaking experience. Does anyone know anything about a book that Mrs. Sheaffer was going to write about her experience? If so, could you give me the name, etc. I would like very much to read it. Thanks
