I had not had a serious problem with anemia until 5 years ago. I had been under extreme and prolonged
stress.....loss of job, Mother's illness and subsequent death, new marriage, trying to deal with Mother's
estate and 3 greedy siblings, who harassed and then sued me (to no avail), and one day I passed out cold
in Walmart, and woke up in the emergency room. Hemoglobin was 7. Current doctor pumped me full of B-12,
sent me for the barium GI tests which proved negative. I moved to another state, and the doctor there had me
taking 300 MG of iron. Some days it was good, other days it was bad, and then it leveled off. Last May,
another extremely stressful situation entered my life, which centered around having someone in my home
who literally hated me for no apparent reason, was on drugs, had a personality disorder, and the last week
this person was in my home, I slept behind a locked door with a dog and a gun, in fear of my life. With a
new job, came new insurance, and as a result a new doctor. He found that my hemoglobin was once again
at 7, with occult bleeding, sent me for the colonoscopic, which showed nothing. Big question......could this
stress have caused my loss of blood? If so, what can I do about it? You can't avoid stress, so how do I deal with it?
