In response to Dawn's reply, I totally disagree. I know thalasemia is a mediteranean disease.
I come from a large family, my mother was a carrier, and out of 10 children, 9 have had the
thalasemia for several years. I'm the only one who didn't have it, but had acute myleogenous
leukemia 27 yrs ago, was only supposed to live 6 months. Most people in North America probably
have a lot of ancestors that have come over from the mediterranean area. My siblings have passed
this disorder on to their children also.
