I have a very close friend who was just diagnosed as being iron defecient anemia. She has lost much weight and is tired and fatigued most of the time.
Shortness of breath and anxiety with depression are also present. Her doctor told her not to think about having cancer (which she is convinced at times she has). He said that it may have something to do with the bones, and ordered a bone scan and a bone marrow biopsy. Are these normal procedures for finding the cause of anemia? I'm not so educated on this subject, and I do wish to hear from others who have had these tests too. He told her that he was looking for a chronic bone type of infection which may cause her anemic state, but he still hasn't ruled out cancer. Is their anyone who can give me some insight on this subject? If so , I'd appreciate your responses more than you'd ever know.
Thank you in advance,
Worried about my friend
