I have a family member that was diagnosed with Pernicious Anemia a little over a year ago. I'm not sure she's getting the best care. From what I understand she had one basic CBC done. She was told that the blood cells looked abnormal and that gave them the diagnosis of Pernicious Anemia. She was then told to have monthly B12 injections. As far as I know, she's not had any follow-up checks on anything, to determine if the amount of B12 is correct or anything. The entire family is sure that she is an anorexic/bulemic over the past 3 years. Can her not eating and/or eating, then purging have brought this condition on by disrupting her stomach acids, etc.?
