: Yes Joan, unfortunately I have already had foot surgery. Had some bone removed from my left foot and will later have the right foot done. And somewhere down the road I will need to have both hands done. The foot surgery was a breeze, took 1.5 hours to complete and didn't cost me any thing since I was an out patient. I missed nine days of work, but my sick pay took care of that. I have RA real bad in just my hands and feet. It is also present in other joints but no where anything like my hands and feet. I hope I never have to have hip replacement surgery or a shoulder replaced. Joan how bad have you got RA and in which joints? Hope you don't get it real bad. I am in my 40's so I have a long ways to go or at least I hope. Write back soon. Kevin

Kevin,
My doctor is very optomist of my condition. I do not appear to have any joint damage. I started my meds about 3 months after the symptons began. So hopefully it will stay under control. My doctor said that the majority of the damage is during the first couple of years of the disease, so that is why early intervention is a must.
