I have osteoarthritis in both thumbs and in two joints in each thumb. I had surgery on left thumb and I am worse than I was before surgery. This was almost four months ago and there have been many complications. I do know people who have had wonderful results from the surery, but I am not one of them. I would do try everything before electing to have surgery - and if you do - find the very best Board Certified Hand Surgeon. We need our thumbs and hands. Good luck.
