Tonya, has your father been professionally diagnosed with arthritus by a Doctor? If so, the Doctor should of had put him on some king of medications. Yes, I mean two or more as I am taking. I am on methotrexate, a strong drug that could take months to kick in, but is used for long term maintenance of the joints. Another thing I am taking is Flurbiprofen, an anti-inflamatory twice a day. And finally a drug called prednisone is another strong drug that works really fast but doesn't stay in your system very long so it can be taken daily. He needs to be under a Doctors care so he can get the best help possible. Not just any Doctor, an arthritus Doctor. I have real bad rheumatoid arthritus and have had it for about 16-17 years. I recently had surgery on my left foot because the pain was so bad. I will need other surgeries in the future on my other foot and both of my hands. Arthritus is nothing to play around with. Your father should be under a Doctors care right away if he is not now. There are also cortisone shots that may be really helpful if the pain is very bad and he needs quick relief. Keep us posted on what he does Tonya. Write back if you have any more questions. Good luck to him. Kevin B.
