Do not have surgery on the bakers cyst. I did because my orthopedic insisted that was the way to go and I ended up with a bacterial infection in my knee and had to be on intravenous therapy in my home for almost a month. The cyst will keep coming back on you when you have osteoarthritis of the knee. The only thing that I have found that helps somewhat is taking an arthritic drug such as Vioxx for the inflammation. Bakers cysts can sometimes go away on their own, but can recur at any time because of the inflammation. I hope this helps you.
