I have posted a few messages previously regarding my degenerated hips and the resulting arthritis. Must have both hips replaced, but it seems due to a malformation in my development--I have shallow hip sockets and at 45 my hips had worn out.
So, I have arthritis that seems to go from my head to my toes--the most predominant feeling is this tingly, numb-like almost burning feeling I have on the skin--runs all the way up my back and sometimes over my head/scalp and onto my face (or so it feels). My ortho surgeon doctor said this is not all due to my hips.
So yesterday I saw my regular doc, had back x-rays, and found that I have some tight spaces and bone spurs in disks in my neck and the middle of my back. She said it looked like x-rays of a woman at least 10 years older than me.
What bothers me is does arthritis spread? Once you get a weak place (hips, say) that then gets attacked by arthritis, does having it in my body then cause it to attack other weak spots. I think these areas in by back were not so bad, but now they are showing arthritis there.
This is a mystery to me as we have NO history in the family of arthritis or joint problems or even malformed hips, like I got.
Does anyone have any ideas re: how arthritis works? Will this keep spreading? This is OA not RA that I have, or so they say. It sounds to me like RA acts very differently.
