Hi: I'm taking Chondroitin and Glucosamine with calcium and other collidal minerals in a liquid form, as a preventative measure against RA. My energy is higher with no diarrhea or apparent side effects. My sister(age 55)is only one year older than me has debilitating RA and recent spinal surgery. There seem to be extremes in my family (Mom had 9 other siblings) where one sibling has RA and the other does not. Two examples would be me and my sister and my Mother and my Aunt. Both my Mother and I ingested lots of calcium and calcium rich foods over the years, while my sister and aunt were lactose intolerant and avoided calcium foods over time. While this is by no means a scientific study :-), common sense says there's possibly a connection between RA and a calcium deficiency. Any recent studies about this? I'm hoping that she will benefit from what I'm taking, because I giving her some for Christmas. In addition I'm suggesting that she have her doctors coordinate her healing with a nutritionist, but her insurance doesn't provide for this. I studied nutrition in college, although not as a major, I have tried to apply this knowledge in life in my caretake role. I'm researching nutritional linkages to help her and to help my kids stave off these and other "family trends." Thoughts, resources, and advice would be helpful. : : : : Hi: I've been taking Glucosamine chondrotin for a couple of months for my knees. Have'nt notice much difference with them but have noticed an increase in my energy level. At first attributed it to all the vegies I was eating, but Also have my dog on Glucosamine for his arthritis and he has had an incredible increase of energy. Anyone else out there noticed this with glucosamine chondrotin? Thanks.
: : : :I've been taking it for about 3 months. I do have more energy but I thought it was because my joints hurt less. It has repaired my ankle, wrist, and several joints in my hands. They are still weak but much, much better.
: : has anyone had side effects from the glucosamine?
: : I just started a few days ago and heard about
: : diarrhea. Thanks, Simon
: :I haven't noticed any side effects from taking GC. I stick to the recommended dosage and haven't had any problem. It has helped me so much I hardly know I have RA right now. I've been taking it over 3 months daily in my orange juice. I use the powder form.
