I'm a 43 yr old female, post-menopausal, who has gradually, over the past two months or so, had severe
pain in
my finger joints, especially of my right hand(I'm right handed). Three months ago, I began doing some
work at home using my hands (sandblasting). Using splints at night has helped me sleep without
being awakened with tingling or pain, but it now has affected me even during the day. Upon
awakening I am stiff all over and my hands barely function. Looking at my finger joints now, it
is obvious that the knuckle joints on my right hand are quite a bit larger that those on my left.
Does Fibromyalgia cause the physical changes such as this or would it more likely be arthritis?
Or could carpal tunnel do this? I experience some pain and stiffness in other joints as well. This
is baffling me, because I've been healthy and active 'til now and this seems to have happened
fairly quickly and seems to be progressing quickly as well. Any suggestions? I can barely open
jars anymore, and typing this even causes a lot of aching. Thanks for any help. I'm clueless!
