I recently just got an ankle brace. I needed a prescription for Insurance to cover it, but my ankle feels much better. The orthotic person said that to get the most from an ankle brace it has to be made just for you, so over the counter one's aren't as good. Mine is hard palstic that fits inside my lace up shoes. It would have cost about $150 so if insurance doesn't cover it you have to decide if it is worth it for you.
