Hi Susan--
I have not taken Vioxx, but have read much about it and have taken Celebrex, which is a similar new NSAID. Like ibuprofen, naproxen, aspirin, these drugs help with pain and inflamation. Vioxx is one of the new ones that is not supposed to aggravate your stomach/intenstinal tract as much. I found Celebrex still created havoc in me (most of those meds cause me to feel sick and have diarrhea a lot) and did no good for pain or inflammation. I am now on naproxen (like in Aleve), and it is the gentlest on my stomach, but it doesn't help greatly with pain just mildly.
There is a lot of info on this board about Vioxx and people who have been using it.
The other med you had prescribed is a muscle relaxant. I had it prescribed, and I don't know if it really did any good--may have helped a little with muscle spasms. I know some people who have the side effects of getting dizzy or sleepy. I had no real side effects.
: Hi,
: I recently saw my doctor for lower back pain and she prescribed vioxx and cyclobenzaprine. I have never heard of either. Has anyone taken cyclobenzaprine before? I am interested in whether it has side effects. I am only 21 and I did not think I would suffer back pain this young. Anyway just interested in advice..
: Thanks
