I've been having problems with knees, a wrist, an ankle and now the elbows have started *voicing* their complaints. Xray of the left knee showed the beginning of OA. (Only had one knee xrayed at that time.) Both knees grind constantly, are stiff in the AM, sore in the PM, and won't let me sit comfortably for any length of time. My family dr says "exercise, tylenol or ibuprofen, and learn to live with it." Tyelenol does nothing, Ibuprofen tears up my stomach, and exercise is a visit through purgatory, although I do understand building up those muscles will help in the long run. Is this all there is to treatment? Would an orthopedist be a better place to start? I'm 39 and would really like to be able to keep up with my husband once we hit retirement age. The way I feel now, we'll be looking for "wheelchair accessible" accomodations only.
