In Reply to: Has anyone (female) with RA become pregnant? posted by Anna on March 12, 2000 at 16:39:11:

Hi. What meds. are you taking for your R.A.?

When I found out I was pregnant, I was already 2 months, and had been taking my medications
all along!! Pretty scary. Had many, many scans (7 I believe) to make sure baby was developing normally.
The first trimester is, of course, crucial. And in the last trimester, I was allowed zero anti-inflammatories.
That was horrible, because for several years before the pregnancy, I had been taking eight of
the Entrophen 10's a day. Because aspirin thins the blood, it was not allowed within 3 mos.
of expected delivery date.

I should say "baby" is now 11 years old and healthy and normal (as normal as eleven year olds
can be)!!! Just kidding. He's great. But just keep in mind that people don't usually know they
are pregnant for at least a month.....so be careful regarding meds.

: I have Rheumatoid Arthritis for a little over two years now. I recently married and was wondering about
: the ramifications of becoming pregnant (with RA). Aside from the occasional inflammation on my left
: wrist, I live a relatively healthy lifestyle. Thanks in advance...
