Diane, I have had several cervical epidural blocks in my neck due to constant neck pain. I have these done at a pain management clinic in Birmingham, AL. I was injected, again in 2 weeks and once again in two weeks. This "bombards" the area initially. After that it was three times a year. After four years I now go about every 8 months. I am hoping for once a year. In my case I am "knocked out" for about 20 minutes. When I wake up I am alert and feel great, although I am not allowed to drive home. I will continue to have these blocks the rest of my life. These blocks don't heal anything, but they allow one to live relativity pain free.
